Hadith-e-Kisa Blanket Drive

Hadith e KisaHadith e Kisa

In Afghanistan, severe winter weather is excruciating for families living in poverty. The locals, particularly the elderly, do not have heat in their homes or adequate blankets to keep them warm. As a result, they are exposed to cold temperatures for long periods of time and inevitably suffer from frostbite and gangrene which result in the loss of their fingers.

NASIMCO, in conjunction with The World Federation, is once again raising funds for the Hadith-e-Kisa Blanket Drive to purchase and distribute 2,000 blankets to struggling sadaat and non-sadaat families living in Mazar Sharif, Afghanistan. The cost of one blanket is a mere $20. With your support, our target is to raise $40,000 for this appeal.

Spread the warmth, please donate today.

eLEARN with NASIMCO

At the NASIMCO Annual Conference 2011, an exciting NASIMCO initiative called "eLEARN" was launched. Since then, work has been going on behind the scenes to make this structured online Islamic learning portal a reality. eLEARN stands for 'eLearning - Edification and Achievement in Religion by NASIMCO' and aims to bring a structured format of education to youths, adults, students and reverts of all ages to learn or re-learn the teachings of the Holy Quran and Ahlulbayt (AS).

NASIMCO is pleased to announce that the project has now reached a stage where the eLEARN Team is soliciting vendors for the implementation of this initiative. The vendors will be responsible for developing a web-based learning system that is capable of multiple users, using a phased approach. A detailed Request For Proposal (RFP) has been drawn up and can be accessed here.

The final date for submission of proposals is May 15th, 2012. All those experienced in e-learning or similar web development projects are encouraged to apply.

Fill My Cup Program

"The nourishment of the body is food, whilst the

nourishment of the soul is feeding others." -Imam Ali (AS)

Fill My CupFill My CupIn the rural areas of Kenya, 3,681 children arrive at school and Madressah with empty stomachs. Their parents are unable to afford a simple meal so many of these children do not get a decent meal for days.

Food is a basic human right. For only $3 per month, you can make sure that each of these children are served a nutritious cup of porridge every morning before they begin their school day. With a full stomach and a peaceful mind, they will become better learners and increase their odds of dropping out of the cycle of poverty.

By providing a cup of porridge to the students each morning, the "Fill My Cup" programme has:
* Seen more children enrolling in the schools and Madressahs
* Encouraged the children to arrive at school on time
* Made the children feel loved and respected

Although the Canadian Government's Matching Fund is now closed, the relief efforts continue and the World Federation is doing as much as possible in this starvation-sticken area. Dr Moledina, President of the World Federation, recently visited the region. He made the following statement after visiting a camp in Mogadishu: "They were staring at us with sunken dried up eyes and shrivelled skin hoping that we could do something to help them."
